Punjab PMT

Punjab PMT is one of the popular Medical Entrance Tests in India, especially in North India. Punjab Pre Medical Test better known as Punjab PMT, as well as Punjab Medical Entrance Test i.e PMET, is held for admission of aspiring candidates to various bachelor medical courses such as M.B.B.S., B.D.S., B.A.M.S. and B.H.M.S. in the entire medical, dental, ayurvedic, homoeopathic Institutes across Punjab. Punjab Medical Entrance Test is conducted by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot on behalf of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar.

There are about 20 medical/dental colleges in Punjab for which admission is done through Punjab Medical Entrance Test. In all these colleges 85% seats are reserved for Punjab candidates and 15% seats for Outside Punjab candidates.

Eligibility:-

A candidate wishing to appear in this Medical Entrance Exam, should have passed (with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in case of general Category and 40% in respect of candidate belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes) the Senior Secondary examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination, which is equivalent to 10+2 after a period of 12 years study, the last 2 years of study must comprise of Physics, Chemistry, Biology with English as compulsory subject.

Note:- The candidates that are in the first year of their Bachelor level degree of graduation can also apply for PMT provided that they are under the specific age limit concerned with this test.

Even candidates that have passed their Bachelor Level degree from any recognized Indian University can apply for this exam, provided he or she is a resident of the state and that they also fall under the specific age limit. However these respective candidates have to attain a study all the compulsory Subjects such as Chemistry, Physics, Zoology or Botany.

Age:-

Aspiring candidates must have attained the age of 17 years on 31st December of the year of application.

Admission Process

* Aspiring candidate can apply by getting the application form from Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot and also from selected Canara Bank Branches.
* The form can also be obtained by post from Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, Faridkot by sending a Demand Draft along with the request for form.
* The candidates that want to send the application form through post have to provide their signature in the back side of the Demand Draft and should also clearly mention the registration number at the top of the requisite letter.

Syllabus

The Punjab PMT contains general syllabus of relevant subjects i.e Physics, Chemistry and Biology from classes 11th and 12th under the 10+2 scheme/pre-medical/intermediate science or an equivalent examination of the Punjab State Education Board / Indian University.

Exam Pattern

The Punjab PMT paper will be of 150 minutes duration consisting of 200 multiple choice questions from the following subjects:

1. Physics – 50 questions.

2. Chemistry – 50 questions.

3. Biology – 100 questions.

Important: – For every correct answer, a candidate will get 4 marks and for every incorrect answer 1 mark will be deducted.

Time

Punjab PMT entrance test is usually conducted in the first week of June of every year.

Examination fee for taking this exam is 1000/- (cost of information brochure and application form).

The examination for Punjab PMT shall be held at all the major cities of Punjab along with Capital city, Chandigarh.
