Well this is the most common question that being asked by an HR in an Interview Session 

  • There are few ways you can start your answers
  • Most of candidate starts with with my name is …. i am from…. my dad is …. lets discus it.  Now assume you are an HR, today you took 20 interview and asked this same question everyone, and 90% candidates have answered in same way… are you going enjoy it when 21st number candidate starts with the same answers? 
  •  By Asking “Tell Me About Yourself ?” what an HR trying to find in you? Do you think he is going remember all candidates details?
  • When any HR asked “Tell Me About Yourself ?” they will notice you very closely, what you are saying and how you are saying .
  • In most cases this is only question. where an HR decided (90%) whether he will hire you or not, based on your answers.
  • Now remember whatever you are saying About Yourself,  in most cases they listen it very carefully and they used to  note down some points, once you finished they will ask the question based on point they have noted down. For example

HR- > Tell me about yourself?

Candidate-> My Name is […. ] I am down-to-earth, smart, creative, industrious, and thorough……My Dad is…………….

  • Suppose HR  note down  smart, creative, and once you finished he asked, “How you will prove me that you are  smart and creative “

Do and Don’t-

  • Stating  with “Hello, My name is ________ ” (is good) remember here you have advertise your self, and HR is the buyer  and you are the seller. In other words you must sell what the buyer is buying.
  • in this question “Tell Me About Yourself ”  don’t tell them about your family because they have asked you “About Your Self Only”
  • Start with the present and tell why you are well qualified for the position.
  • Don’t pretend to be over smart or over confident or you know everything.
  • They should smell that you are a very good learner, smart, most importantly leading power
  • Your voice should be confident, try to talk logically.

  • When i was a student i discovered a logic that how you can control  a whole interview session and you already know what are possible questions and HR might ask you! and you already prepared those answers.
  • Most of the critical situation occurs when HR asked a uncommon question , like “If you could compare yourself with any animal, which would it be and why? Then? 😮 😮 😮
  • Well lets start, just prepared a very good answers for Tell Me About Yourself 
  • Start with the present and tell why you are well qualified for the position.
  • Put points like “Academic Project‘ , the problem  you have faced during internship, how you fixed it, any technological problem. Any award you received. Just Something good about you.
  • Put some very good unique (curiosity) points in “Tell Me About Yourself  Answer”
  • So that the HR note down that unique (curiosity) points.
  • Once you finished he will ask you about those points.  (he will never know that you already prepared the answers)
  • Remember again made the sub answer with unique (curiosity) points. once you finished he will ask another question which you wants him to ask. And so on….. 
  • Every plan has a backup plan, if some how he just skipped your all (curiosity) points in “Tell Me About Yourself” then?
